I’m Changing

The American Gulf Coast, home to Lisa Mills, is a region where Southern musical influences that easily can be taken for granted come together in ways that can’t. Mills exemplifies that truth of I’m Changing

...

The album began as a re-recorded, re-engineered, reconsidered take on her 2005 album of the same name. Thanks in part of the support of fans via an ambitious Kickstarter drive, Mills was able to enlist groundbreaking producer Trina Shoemaker, the first woman to win the Grammy Award for album engineering. (She’s shared in three for her work on albums for Sherryl Crow and Steven Curtis Chapman.) Together in an intense process, the two melted down I’m Changing , recasting it as a more pure expression of Mills’ artistic desires and capabilities, reworking old tracks and adding new ones. The results are explosive. —Lawrence Specker, Mobile Press Register
